First Look >> Serife & Ru

Last Saturday I had a blast photographing my first ever Turkish/Bengali wedding.  Serife  & Ru are one of the loveliest couples I’ve ever met and gave me so much time to do their couples photos, I was like a kid in a candy shop!  Especially as one of the venues was the St Pancras hotel with, yes, THAT staircase….

Paris Engagement Shoot >> Martina & Leslie

Martina & Leslie are an absolutely gorgeous couple I met a few months back at The Photography Farm.   They’re planning their wedding for later this year, but we wanted to do a little something in the meantime.  I’m not sure how the idea of Paris came about (I think I watch too many old films), but I’m so glad it did!

You don’t need me to tell you how incredible Paris is.  Not only is it known for being one of the most romantic cities in the world, but I also found out that it’s known as the City of Light.  Both for good reason.  It’s just beautiful.  Winter sun is my favourite kind of light anyway, but pair that with the wide tree-lined avenues, beautiful iconic buildings and a gorgeous couple as much in love as Martina & Leslie? It’s a photographer’s dream.

It wasn’t an easy shoot. That I’ll freely admit.  The weather turned a few days before and it was a bitter  -8’c for most of the time we were there.   I remember looking at Ana, our fab make up artist, at one point and seeing that her fingers had gone completely blue!    It was windy too, and it kept blowing away the Kelly Spence hairpieces that Martina was wearing.  We spent a lot of time defrosting in cafes and taking refuge in the Metro to keep warm , popping up here and there to grab a few photos before it became unbearable again.   But the team rocked it out, and Martina & Leslie were so completely brilliant and totally committed to getting great photos. I can’t thank them enough for being such superstars.

(I’m secretly hoping you’re not even reading this, because you’ve skipped straight to the photos. )

Big thank you to Martina and Leslie for just being the most utterly gorgeous people inside and out, to Ana of IAmChic who did the most incredible job doing Martina’s make up WHILE WE WERE ON THE EUROSTAR (honestly, amazing!), to Cristina Rossi for being a fabulous assist and a bundle of energy, Kate Ruth Romey for designing some adorable LONDON-PARIS tickets, and to Kelly Spence for loaning us two utterly beautiful headpieces for the shoot.

Designer Wedding Show – Kelly Spence Bridal Accessories

On Saturday I pottered down to the Designer Wedding Show in Battersea to catch up with a few wedding industry people and to take some photos for Kelly Spence Bridal Accessories who was exhibiting at the show.  I first discovered Kelly’s stunning pieces when she loaned us a few items for the Neon Bridal shoot I photographed, organised by Want That Wedding.  She also loaned some gorgeous ones for my recent Paris engagement shoot  (the full shoot will be making an appearance on the blog soon!).  Check out this utterly inspired piece which was paired with a Lisa Redman dress on the DWS catwalk. Incredible, no? I’ve honestly seen nothing else like it, it’s absolutely gorgeous.

I also love the simplicity of this birdcage veil, teamed with a Louise Selby dress.

Later on in the afternoon I managed to catch up with Mel of Homegrown Bride and meet Ciara of  Wed in London and Laura Jayne of Your Wedding Your Way.  All lovely ladies with new and exciting wedding blogs – always fab to put faces to twitter chat! 🙂  (And thank you so much Homegrown Bride for the GC Couture cupcake – it was just the ticket when I got home!  They make NUTELLA wedding cakes – which is possibly the most genius thing ever.)

Wedding >> Shelby & Rob’s Bijou London Winter Wedding

I’m excited to be able to share this lovely bijou wedding I second shot for my friend Cris Rossi a few weeks ago.  Shelby & Rob had such a fun and laid back day, and I think it really shows in the photographs!

We turned up early to catch Shelby’s bridal preparations, and I have to confess, bridal prep is one of my favourite parts of the entire day.   I love all that pent-up emotion and nervous excitement, and the way that everything is laid out and ready to go.

I’m not very knowledgeable about flowers and I have no idea what this type of flower is called but doesn’t it make for a really unique boutonniere?

And, as a cat and dog lover, Shelby and Rob’s house was an absolute blast to photograph….how cute?

This is one of my favourite photos – Shelby and her flower girls calmly having a game of ring a ring of roses while waiting for the Registrar’s interview.

Even though it was crisply cold day, all the guests gave us their best smiles for the group photos….

Well, almost all the guests. 😉  (but it WAS rather cold)

Fortunately it wasn’t long before everyone moved to the evening reception which was gloriously cosy and candlelit.

Ruby joined in for the first dance…

And it wasn’t long before the kids took over the rest of the dancefloor. Love it.

Thanks to Cris for having me second shoot and a big, big thank you to Shelby & Rob for letting me share their day with them.  You guys are so much fun and I wish you every happiness in the future!

Weddings >> Jo & Jeremy’s Sun-Kissed Buxted Park Wedding

Jo & Jeremy were married a few months ago in Buxted Park, a gorgeously elegant venue in East Sussex.  Built in the 1700s, it’s set in 312 acres of parkland and is a beautiful backdrop for a day of celebration and joy.  Many thanks to Lisa Devlin for having me along to second shoot this one.

For more photos please go have a look at Lisa’s blog.

Weddings >> Jo & Jeremy Preview

Happy new year!! I hope the first week of 2012 has been good to everyone? I’ve been busy working hard on lots of bits and bobs (including a new website – watch this space!) though I have to confess I’ve missed my camera a little over the past couple of weeks.

Today I wanted to share a sneak peek with you – yes, even though I’ve not really been known to be a massive fan of them (I think it’s just the phrase “sneak peek” which grates on my ears for some reason, maybe we can come up with another one?) .  But I’m told you guys like them, whatever they’re called, so we’re peeking away 🙂

Jo & Jeremy’s wedding is one I second shot for the super lovely Lisa Devlin at Buxted Park a few weeks ago.   It was one of those golden days, that us photographers love so much.  And for good reason, I absolutely love this sundrenched moment.  And isn’t that a gorgeous bouquet?

I’ve been featured on OMGIMGETTINGMARRIED!!

A big thank you to Alexis for featuring Lizzii & James’  Hong Kong Trash the Dress shoot on OMG I’M GETTING MARRIED last Friday!  I’m a massive fan of Alexis’ blog so I’m dead chuffed that we’re on there!

Rock the Frock >> Lizzii & James’ Hong Kong Shoot

OK, there are probably 101 things on my To Do list which need attention before I blog this shoot, but you know what?  It’s got trams! A feather dress! It’s on location in Hong Kong! 101 other things can wait…

Engagement/couples shoots are BIG (I mean B.I.G.) in Southeast Asia and I’ve been wanting to do one on location there for absolutely ages now.  Lizzii and James got married this summer in China but didn’t have any photos done in Hong Kong where they live.  I was over visiting family and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to do a shoot in one of the most photogenic cities in the world!

Big thanks to Lizzii and James who are utter superstars, and honestly were so naturally lovely together I didn’t really need to do any directing at all.  Can we just have a moment to admire Lizzii’s two dresses?  My favourite one is the one with the feather train andwhich she DESIGNED HERSELF (talented, much?). I really hope you guys love the photos as much as I do.  Also big thanks to Karly Cox for being an invaluable assistant and all round megastar.  Right, enough chitchat….
